The Video Change

Video Compressor FAQ

Common answers for compressing videos to a target size in your browser.

Quick answers

The tool is free, requires no login, adds no watermark, and is built around local browser processing instead of uploading videos to a server.

FAQ

Which formats are supported?

The first version accepts MP4, MOV, and WebM files.

What is the file size limit?

Files over 500MB are blocked. Files from 200MB to 500MB show a browser memory and slow-processing warning.

Can I compress to an exact target size?

The tool estimates bitrate from the target size and duration, then reports the actual output size after compression.

Why did compression fail?

Common causes include unsupported input, unreadable metadata, browser memory limits, engine load failure, or an unreachable target size.

Does The Video Change upload my file?

No. The first version does not include a cloud upload or cloud transcoding mode.
